Facebook has taken a very anti-ICO stance by calling them “misleading and deceptive” and banning their promotion on its platform.
Is it just coincidence that this policy change comes shortly after Facebook CEO announced plans to research how they could leverage the blockchain technology themselves?
Conspiracy theories aside, here’s what Facebook published on their website yesterday:
What exactly this is going to mean in practice is anyone’s guess at the moment, but it’s not necessarily a bad thing if Facebook bans ICO advertising.
We feel that potential “investors”, if we dare to use that term, do need high quality information before making a decision to buy into an ICO and Facebook ads certainly don’t serve that purpose.
