Football legend Didier Drogba is Now a Cryptocurrency Startup Ambassador

Ivorian footballer Didier Drogba is the latest celebrity to join the long list of athletes who have endorsed cryptocurrencies this year.

According to Russian news outlet RT, Drogba is the official ambassador for the cryptocurrency-based social networking platform All.me. Drogba explained that he believed in the project “a lot” and even wore a shirt with All.me’s logo to show his unwavering support. Along with other celebrities, he has also started using All.me to share his pictures.

All.me promises to share 50% of advertising revenue with its users based on factors such as popularity, activity and content. Armenia’s Honorary Consul Artak Tovmasyan came up with the idea in 2015 and said that so far, the startup has raised $30 million. The digital platform has a hard cap of $100 million and its ICO will start in the fourth quarter of 2018.

Didier Drogba: The Peacemaker

From 2002 to 2007, the Ivory Coast was engaged in a civil war over national identity, unemployment and other issues. After the state was qualified for the 2006 World Cup, Drogba and his Ivory Coast teammates took the opportunity to convince the population that the war had to end. Two years later, his speech bore fruit and a peace agreement was signed by the government and the opposition. He was also chosen as the the Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in 2007.

The Ivorian striker, who won the title of the “African Footballer of the Year” twice, also set up the Didier Drogba Foundation and donated £3 million to build a hospital in his hometown. All his efforts towards helping those in need made him an idol in the eyes of the Ivorian people. Drogba’s past proves that he truly supports the work All.me plans to do and will receive full support from people in return.

Athletes Take Over the Blockchain & Crypto World

Last year, Uruguayan footballer Luis Suarez used his Instagram account to draw attention towards the blockchain platform Stox, “the best prediction market in the world”. The endorsements from athletes increased this year, starting with retired Portuguese football legend Luís Figo. He became the brand ambassador for Stryking Entertainment, which is planning to create a fantasy football game “Football-Stars”.

Ronaldinho, another football star, announced last week that he was launching a crypto project titled Ronaldinho Soccer Coin (RSC). The coin aims to become the “common currency of the soccer world” and offer a platform for betting, e-commerce and digital stadiums.
